High SPL handling Microphones

We now have available new Girardin fixed-mode High-SPL microphones.  These are intended for special purpose higher level measurement needs.  For most users, these mics should act as second mics, not as the primary mic for typical measurement purposes.

These microphones include modified capsule with increased local feedback (addes Rs-6.2k ohms) in the FET buffer circuitry for approximately 12dB higher SPL handling.  These mics operate with similarly reduced sensitivity -for this reason, the High-SPL mics are NOT RECOMMENDED as the only microphone in a measuring system for typical measurements -- THE HIGH SPL MICS MAY NOT BE USABLE for many measurements made using the built-in EASY SCRIPTS (LAUD) or Scripts (PRAXIS),.
